At ecompensate we encourage everyone to first calculate and then reduce as much as possible their Carbon Footprint. According to the UNFCCC we need to reduce the world's CO2 emissions by 7.6 per cent a year between 2020 and 2030 to limit Global Warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
For those emissions that are just too difficult or even impossible to reduce, carbon offsetting is an effective and efficient way to become carbon neutral. To help achieve the target of a sustainable average footprint of 2 tonnes of CO2 per year you could choose to compensate for more emissions than you generate. Let's not forget that business as usual will not take us where we need to be in the fight against climate change.
